Cyber Terrorism

One asymmetric threat to the western nation is "cyber terrorism." The advanced technologically based military forces — dependent on satellites, critical infrastructure computers, the Internet, secure software programming, computer-driven telecommunications, air traffic control centers and other sophisticated sensor systems — are tempting targets for cyber terrorism.

Media reports surfaced during November claiming that Al Qaeda is preparing to launch an “electronic jihad” against online Western interests on November 11 based on reports from a Jerusalem-based website. But nothing of sort happened, as threats were more hyped than reality.
